A speeding National Guard parade of MRAPs (mine-resistant ambush protected)
all terrain vehicles demolished a car
in the serene pre-dawn neighborhood of Capitol Hill, DC.

The MRAPs rushed North on 8th St SE, from the direction of the Marine Barracks,
screaming by the normally pedestrian zone of Eastern Market
which this morning had scarcely a soul to be seen.

At the crossroads of 8th and North Carolina SE,
a busy crossing of 3 roads that during day hours if packed with commuters,
a collision sounded; many of the MRAPs carried on and one remained behind.

I had been sleeping in my car here,
a common occurrence and one that the neighbors are more than used to.
The parade woke me up, and passed before I had a chance to grab my camera or phone.

I found on passenger seat many business cards for L, a local legal courier,
who picked up the phone and explained that this is her aunt V Palmer's car.
Valerie is in a local hospital and L is headed there; she may call back.

I confirmed from L and a neighbor, Lou,
that this was caused by the National Guard convoy.
